Support Breakthrough’s Vital Therapy Program
The National Alliance on Mental Illness reports that in Kansas, 153,000 adults did not receive the mental health care they needed, and over half of them did not receive help because of cost. Additionally, 1,383,258 residents live in areas with a shortage of mental health professionals.
Today, more than ever, we need your support for our mental health programs to help break this cycle. You may not be aware that Breakthrough offers a unique therapy program with flexibility to existing barriers that often hinder an individual’s access to care.
On average, Breakthrough absorbs over $60,000 in treatment costs per year for individuals without insurance.
Help us reach our $60,000 goal to continue offering vital, life-changing resources.

Help us empower individuals by supporting life-changing therapy services.
Breakthrough offers a unique therapy program, with the flexibility to existing barriers that often hinder an individual’s access to care, such as transportation, access to phone or internet, ability to keep medications secure, or having a mental health issue that other community therapy providers deem as “high risk.”
Every dollar raised is vital in our journey as therapy hours increase, and the need for quality, flexible programs continues to rise, even more so now as individuals lose Medicaid eligibility.
Life-Saving Therapy Programs Start Here
Everyone has a different mental health journey, and for some, the path is filled with many roadblocks. Breakthrough’s therapy programs offer flexible options for members to receive the care they need. Let the stories of two current members receiving services inspire you to take action today!
Susan’s Story
Susan has been utilizing therapy services through Breakthrough since 2017. She credits the support system she has gained through the Clubhouse and access to a flexible therapy program as a big reason she can work as a part-time para.
After many years of being misdiagnosed, Susan hit rock bottom. Finding it difficult to get out of bed and go to work, she sought help and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Receiving consistent mental health resources at other community agencies became difficult because of existing barriers and not being able to receive consistent therapy sessions, which are vitally important to Susan’s mental health.
On the good days and the bad, Susan has Breakthrough’s support system to ensure she has the resources needed to thrive.
Susan credits the programs she receives at Breakthrough for keeping her out of a psychiatric hospital or jail.
Today, Susan continues receiving vital services and also gives back to Breakthrough by supporting advocacy issues, spending time with other members and staff in Topeka, supporting legislative efforts, and through various community outreach opportunities.
Codee’s Story
Have you ever had a day when dealing with your thoughts and feelings overwhelmed you? Do you struggle with your mental health and wellness?
Codee felt the same way. She tried a combination of prescription medications and coping mechanisms on her own, but nothing worked.
Then she heard about Breakthrough’s Clubhouse therapy program.
Through this transformative program, Codee developed the mental health and wellness tools to better manage her thoughts, feelings, and actions.
She felt comfortable with her therapist because she could be open about her struggles without being judged. Each session was a safe place for her to learn about herself, grow, and build resilience.
Codee now focuses on what matters most — her well-being, happiness, and being mindful of her needs – to form positive relationships with others and create a healthy, productive life.
